Our Roots: Our fellowship was born in March 1993 as a church plant by Tom and Karen Pauquette. We started meeting in a living room on South Eureka Avenue in Columbus Ohio. From there, we have called several locations home including West Franklin Elementary School and a storefront on the corner of Wedgewood Drive and Sullivant Avenue. We reached out to the community, preaching the gospel and continued to grow as a family of believers. In May of 1996, Vineyard Christian Fellowship took possession of a building at 1159 Demorest Road. In the Spring of 2001, we broke ground and relocated to our current Holt Road location and now have a congregation of around 800 people.
You may have noticed a few other Vineyard churches in Columbus and the surrounding areas. Many of these Vineyards also started as outreaches or "church plants", however, each Vineyard is an independent church. Not all Vineyard churches are alike but they all do share common essential elements of Christian doctrine and practice.
We believe and teach all the basic truths of Christianity. We also believe that God still speaks to and empowers the Church today, and expect to experience a deep sense of God's presence and power in our worship, Bible teaching and prayer. Our heart's desire is to emulate the church as described in Acts 2:42-47.
The Vineyard, as a movement, rose up under the leadership of John Wimber in the early 1980's as an offshoot of the Calvary Chapel Church in Costa Mesa, California. Three decades later, there are more than 1,500 Vineyard churches worldwide, inhabiting countries all over the globe.
Assorted Ministries:
Vineyard Kids: Vineyard Kids oversees the programming and care for children, ages ranging from infants through those in the fifth grade. This ministry is provided during each of our Sunday worship services. Though our program is not just a weekend event. We provide regular activities and ministry offshoots throughout the year for children and their families. Watch the Calendar of Events for upcoming events, dates and times. Contact our Children's Director, Nancy Weatherington, for more information.
Student Ministries: We offer comprehensive student ministries, which include programs to help build students relationships with each other, building a relationship with God, serving our community and how to share our faith. Middle School students meet every Monday from 7-8:30PM and the High School group meets every Wednesday from 7-8:30PM. Contact our Youth Director, Mike Olshefski, for additional information.
Servant Evangelism: Bottom line...Jesus wants us to serve others. Regardless if you have participated in an outreach project in the past, everyone can play at the Vineyard. Whatever your comfort level is with serving...there is a way to be involved at any of our events. You are free to stay within your area of comfort or break out and see how God can take you to a whole new level! Watch the Calendar of Events for the next outreach opportunity in which you can take part.
Missions: We support several ministries on American soil and across the globe. We hold 'interest meetings' when we're gearing up to send a team to the mission field. Interest meetings are held as an opportunity for you to get the details so that you can ask God if it's time to serve elsewhere for a brief time. There is simply no substitute for the hands-on, real life experiences in another culture. Watch the Calendar of Events for the next interest meeting.
Classes and Spiritual Growth: We offer regular classes and seminars that help build your personal relationship with Jesus. Watch the Calendar of Events for the next class that may interest you. Registration is often suggested for our classes, and you do so by completing the Connection Card that is found in each Sunday program.
Connection: Visit the Calendar of Events to find the next opportunity to connect with others.
Home Groups are small groups of people who meet at someone's home twice a month to study the Bible, pray for one another, and serve together. It's how we do life together at the Vineyard. Since each group has a different leader and host, it is important to visit a few in order to find the one that fits your personality the best. Directions to each home group can be found on the Small Groups & Activities board in the church lobby.
Vineyard Men: Men, if you aren't involved, you need to be. You can't do this alone. We offer several opportunities each week for a brotherly connection.
Vineyard Women: Ladies, we have many events throughout the year just for you. If you're an outdoorsy type, try our Trailblazers group.
Ministries & Clubs: Many clubs and ministries have formed at the Vineyard. Find the next event on the Calendar of Events page. For the Biker Ministry, check out their site here.
